In the year 2010, I guess I have grown up that little bit *does action with finger and thumb*. I would somewhat like to believe that I have changed, just a tiny little bit. And taken away many memorable lessons that I will remember for quite some time. So today, being the New Year, I shall do a walk down memory lane and see how far life has brought me.

My New Year resolution for 2010 was to watch 26 movies, and I have done it! WOOOHOOO! 26 on the dot! 2 days of 3 movie marathons is madness, I know!

I resigned from my first ever full time job, after countless resignation letter, tears, sweat, laughter, happiness, anger and every possible emotion you could think of, I had experience it all there. I would say it was a memorable experience as it really opened up my eyes to a lot of things. People said I have changed since I started working there as I was no longer the naive little girl they thought I was when I first joined. Hello, I was just 19 going onto 20 then. I guess maybe I have become a bit bitchier, but it gets things done, or so I would like to believe. I have met the most amazing people I could have ever met in my life, the ones who have taught me great life lessons, like believing in myself, family and most importantly, love. And meeting Mambo Kitty Cat, Hatta Teo!

It was not long before I started working at Gusttimo, and met another bunch of amazing people that I will call my friends for life. Chingmay, Jiayi, Dixon, Eeler, Rendy, Alvin, MJ, and JJ. Despite our age differences, the fact that we can all get along with each other like one big happy family, makes it all worthwhile. How we have our crazy work days, laughing and screaming at each other, our insane jokes that makes no sense sometimes. And do not forget our drinking sessions. How we can finish off 8 bottles in one night. I miss those days man. How the May babies had the Waterfall and Hurricane. O to the M to the G. I will invite all of you to my wedding! I’m being completely serious. You guys added so many colours into my very colourful world, and I am really grateful for that. Group hugs!

Of course, there are the full-timers in my life as well. CHINA GANG – Mellissa, Kah Wee, Jasmine, Ting Ting, Mike and Kimberly. Our poker and monopoly nights, shhh later the bird wake up jokes, our laughter, damn sadistic stories that seem so funny after telling each other. Birthday celebrations, club nights and many other stuff that I might have missed out. I would never ever trade it for anything in the world.

The LRMers – Warren, Shawne, Linus, Tai Hong, Lena, and Shane. The dinners and lunches and movie dates. How we can sit and laugh life away. Club and drinks. Memories of those times will be etched in my mind.

Girlfriends – Qiu Rui, who bought me Koi Bubble Tea. I LOVE YOU HUBBY! HAHAHA thanks for being there to listen to me rant about stuff while I was over in Brisbane. Laura, my milo peng buddy, but we haven’t gone for milo peng in such a long while. The little texts to let me know that you’re there for me, and I really appreciate it.

SMITHS – Karolyn, Chinyi, Yuenteck, Sean, Joel Tian, Jacquelyn, Kevin. We may not meet that often, but each time is simply awesome. Watching movies, talking, hanging out (actually I was not there for a lot of birthdays! Sorry!), drinking. You guys have been with me since secondary school and I really treasure each one of you.

And there was the planning of my 21st birthday party. Dinner and Butter Factory. I will never forget how UGLY I looked going to Butter Factory to make the payment. Black pants and a sweaty white shirt, holding two HUGE boxes of chocolates. I guess in the end, everything went well. And I am officially a happy 21 year old kid.

Naturally, after all the partying, one always has to pack up and leave, and off to Australia! I did not go alone. I had my GFL Huiling with me, which was just awesome. How we can laugh about random stuff, your run/my stroll along the river, shopping trips, “cooking” lessons, school projects and holidays. Love you deep deep!

And there is the Brisbane gang of people. Bryan, Kelvin Heng, Gwen, Amanda, Weilun, Sharmine, Kiat Beng, Lincoln, Kuo Quan and Shawn Moomoo. Going to Gold Coast, chilling out, celebrating each other’s birthdays, dinners. But why aren’t we meeting up in SG???!!!!

Don’t forget the Melbourne people! Lisa, Lina, Maggie, Iggy, Li Ann, Steven, Wilson, Jack, Kath, Carrie. You guys just simply kick ass man. To the Mahs, thank you for putting up with me at your lovely home and bringing me around, showing me the night life of Melbourne that makes me want to just live there. But I know somehow, Brisbane is a better choice for me.

I’m feeling home sick for Brisbane! I think I’m mad!

And last of all, my family. The most awesome people in the whole wide world – my parents and my brother. Awwwww. They have been super understanding, sending me all the waaaaay to Aussie, giving me all the freedom one could ever ask for, being my ATM, among other stuff. Ed has been super cool, constantly entertaining me with stories and jokes even though we never skype, only MSN like once every 2 weeks. But it’s quality over quantity.

This year, I feel that I have become a different person. Like I have become more tolerant somehow, except to certain KIDS. Yet, there are times I have been misunderstood, but I’m cool with it. My temper has toned down, but I’m still as direct as ever or maybe even more. I’m still me, but in a cool new packaging! I have seen different sides of people, my perception has been changed ten million times, shit happens, but I am alive. And am totally kicking ass! I know I can’t please everyone, that everyone is different. If they can’t accept it, *waves bye*.

New year resolution! I gave a lot of thought to this, but I have not come up with any. I guess I would like to maintain my GPA or improve it if possible. Graduate by the end of the year. Be a happier person overall, stop being some emo shit at times. Stay away from guys who constantly have girls around them. Best if I can avoid all physical contact – SHIT I’M GONNA BECOME A NUN!!!

With that, I end this New Year Resolution piece. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011, may the new year be a prosperous and fulfilling year for you.

XOXO, Manu
